Getting Noticed At Work - Walrath Recruiting, Inc.

Getting Noticed At Work - Walrath Recruiting, Inc. You could easily  be the hardest worker in the office. You finish projects ahead of schedule, and perform well consistently. However, it seems your boss always overlooks you when its time for promotions. As an employee, you  would think simply doing the hard work is enough to warrant notice. Unfortunately this is not always the case. Consequently, there are a few ways to change this. Getting noticed can be challenging. To help, well discuss some obvious things to do,  and some more non-traditional approaches to make sure your hard work doesnt go unappreciated. The Basics of Getting Noticed Firstly, be yourself. Trying to act like someone youre not just to get noticed will do you more harm than good. Be the best version of yourself, and you will find more enjoyment in work. Being genuine is easily noticed and will have a positive impact on others around you. Although this is obvious, make sure you are always presentable. Its helpful to stand out, but make sure youre not overdoing it in terms of dress or presentation. Being dependable and on time goes a long way. Make sure you earn a reputation of being dependable. This means getting projects done on time and not being late for work or ducking out early. Also, dont be afraid to propose new ideas you have. Whether or not they are put to use, management will appreciate your contributions. Finally, track your own accomplishments and successes. If you perform well or get praised, print it out and file it. This material will be invaluable when your performance is reviewed. Empowerment Through Others In a job, arguably the most influential asset you have is the people who surround you. Your coworkers play a huge role in your success in a position, and you should do all you can to build up a support system with them. Having strong relationships with coworkers doesnt just benefit everyday tasks. If you help a coworkers accomplishments get recognition, they will likely do the same for you in the future. Having a good relationship with your coworkers will make each day more enjoyable, and allow you to advocate for each other. Take every opportunity you can to develop a strong bond with your coworkers, whether its on the clock or off. Next, dont allow yourself to get caught up in office politics. Even if you cant stand another worker, dont bad mouth them around the office. It makes you look bad,  and you never know who may be listening. Dont Fear Change You should also try and take on as many opportunities as you can when they come along as long as you can maintain a high quality of work. Taking the tough jobs nobody else wants and performing well is  a surefire way to get you noticed.Lastly, if you find a way to work smarter or process improve, do something about it. Just because its traditionally the way things have been done in the past doesnt mean its the best way! Your superiors will especially appreciate the increased efficiency, and your desire to do what is  best for the organization. Thats all we have for advice on being the best you can be!
